Robert Fresh Market, New Orleans’ favorite neighborhood grocery store, will unveil the food labeling system exclusively at all three of their supermarket locations. The NuVal system, adopted by more than 1,600 grocery retail stores from coast-to-coast, guides customers to make well-informed nutritional choices. Foods throughout Robert Fresh Market will be scored on a scale from 1 to 100. The higher the NuVal score, the higher the products nutritional value. NuVal scores cover a wide variety of categories including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, cereal, soft drinks and snacks just to name a few. Nutritional scores will be placed on shelf tags next to the price. Consumers will be able to compare nutrition the same way they compare pricing.
Developed by Dr. David Katz and a team of twelve nutrition and medical experts, the NuVal System weighs nutrients with favorable health effects over nutrients with unfavorable health effects to get a single score from 1 to 100. Studies reveal that the higher the NuVal score, the lower the risk of diseases such as diabetes. “We are committed to offering our customers expert nutritional knowledge that is easy to understand, quick to locate, and simple to use,” explains Marc Robert, CEO of Robert Fresh Market. “The NuVal system not only guides customers to make more informed food choices, but provides our customers with a level of confidence in the products they choose.”

Robért Fresh Market was proud to assist both Jesuit High School and Jesuit Alumni headed by the class of 1983 in their annual Thanksgiving Basket drive.
On Tuesday 11/22/2011 the alumni class of 1983 headed by Mike Varisco arrived at Robérts to pick up special order items for their basket drive. And on Wednesday 11/23/2011 over 38 homeroom classes from Jesuit High School arrived at the store located on Robert E. Lee Blvd in New Orleans at 5am. Students enjoyed a hot breakfast, donuts, juice and milk provided by Robért Fresh Market and then began shopping for the items that were needed to make their Thanksgiving Baskets. As each group completed their shopping list they were greeted by the smiling faces of the Robért cashiers who tallied the sale and made sure that each sale was given a discount off the total purchase. Robérts was pleased to accommodate the over 400 Jesuit students, teachers and alumni and was proud to be a small part to this gracious event.

MISSION:
Living their motto of "Men For Others," students at Jesuit High School distribute about 1,000 Thanksgiving food boxes to more than 375 needy families in the New Orleans metropolitan area.
The day usually begins for students at 6:00 a.m. at Roberts' Super Market. Students and faculty meet there to purchase the perishable goods needed to complete the baskets already begun with food collected over the last month. Students then return to campus and work with their homeroom classmates to prepare the baskets for delivery.
Later the school community gathers together in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs for a Thanksgiving prayer service before students, parents, and teachers deliver the baskets to the homes of those who would not otherwise enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
The annual Thanksgiving Drive has been conducted by the students of Jesuit for more than 65 years. It is organized and executed by the students under the guidance of Helen Swan, director of the school's Service Projects Program.

New Orleans, Louisiana (November 7, 2011) –Approximately 100 children between 5 and 15 years of age recently participated in the 1st Annual Robert Kids Duathlon. NewOrleans’ very first Run-Bike-Run race for children was presented by Robert FreshMarket in collaboration with Kona Fitness & Café and by all accounts was a resounding success! In an effort to teach children the importance of giving back to their community, Robert’s reached out to Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana on the initiative to help stock food shelves for the approaching holiday season. Kids were encouraged to donate food items in exchange for a discount on race entry fees. Due to the overwhelming success of the initiative, Robert Fresh Market has extended the food drive through the end of this year. Robert’s invites the public to support this effort by donating non-perishable food items to Second Harvest at all four store locations. Donation receptacles are set up at the following stores main entrances:
