Father’s Day at the Grill: An Elegant Backyard Menu

APPETIZER: Cantaloupe & Black Forest Ham Bites with Baby Swiss

Ingredients:

  • Sweet jumbo cantaloupes
  • Dietz & Watson deli sliced Black Forest Ham
  • Dietz & Watson baby Swiss cheese
  • Mint leaves or balsamic glaze (optional)

How to Serve:
Cube cantaloupe into 1-inch pieces. Wrap thin slices of Black Forest ham around a square of Baby Swiss cheese, then skewer with a melon cube using a toothpick. Chill until ready to serve.

Finishing Touch: Drizzle with balsamic glaze or top with a mint leaf for an elevated presentation.


 

MAIN COURSE: Grilled Ribeye with Sweet Baby Ray’s Compound Butter

Ingredients:
Makes enough for 2–3 steaks

  • USDA Choice Boneless Ribeye Steaks
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened (combine with below ingredients)
  • 1 tbsp. Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. chopped rosemary or parsley
  • Pinch of black pepper

How to Make:
Whisk compound butter ingredients until well combined, then chill. Grill steaks to your preferred doneness and top with a slice of compound butter just before serving.


 

ALTERNATIVE MAIN: Lemon-Herb Grilled Chicken

Ingredients:
For 1½–2 lbs chicken

  • Sanderson Farms Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1 lemon for grilling

Combine for Marinade:

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tbsp.)
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. chopped thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper

How to Make:
Pound chicken breasts to ½-inch thick. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, then grill 2 to 3 minutes per side over medium-high heat. Serve sliced with grilled lemon halves.


 

SIDE: Loaded Baked Potato Board

Ingredients:

  • U.S. #1 baking potatoes
  • Food Club sliced bacon 12oz
  • Your choice of shredded cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Chives or green onions
  • Salted butter

How to Make:
Wrap potatoes in foil and bake or grill until soft. (If baking, place in oven at 425 degrees F for about 50 minutes depending on the size of your potatoes.) Create a topping bar with crispy cooked bacon, shredded cheese, sour cream, chives, and butter. Guests can load their own.


 

ADDITIONAL SIDE: Summer Berry Salad with Cherries, Blueberries, and Lemon-Honey Vinaigrette

Ingredients:

  • Sweet California red cherries
  • Pint sweet blueberries
  • 1 cup cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 4 cups spring mix or baby spinach (or use romaine if preferred)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds or chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup crumbled goat cheese or feta (optional)

Lemon-Honey Vinaigrette Ingredients:

Enough for 4–6 servings of salad

  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard (optional, but helps emulsify)
  • Pinch of salt and cracked black pepper

How to Make:

Whisk vinaigrette ingredients together until well combined. In a large bowl, gently toss greens with cherries, blueberries, and nuts. Drizzle with vinaigrette just before serving. Top with crumbled cheese if using.


 

DESSERT: Cookie Cake à la Mode

Ingredients:

  • 12 Inch decorated Father’s Day cookie cake
  • Blue Bell Ice Cream half callon

How to Make:
Top slices of cookie cake with a scoop of Blue Bell’s finest. It’s sweet, simple, and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
