If it’s August, it’s that time of year again — Hatch Chile Season has arrived, and we’re bringing the heat (and the flavor) straight to New Orleans!
These prized peppers hail exclusively from the Hatch Valley of New Mexico, where the unique climate creates a chile unlike any other. Think sweet, slightly smoky, and just the right amount of heat. And yes — we’re roasting them fresh in-store every day while in season.
But don’t wait — Hatch Season is short, and once it’s over, it’s over!
Robért Fresh Market is once again celebrating the Hatch Chile — a uniquely sweet and mildly spicy crop grown only in southern New Mexico’s Hatch Valley.
For a limited time, all Robért Fresh Market locations will feature fresh and in-house roasted Hatch Chiles, available daily. Plus, keep an eye out for them in prepared dishes across the store (depending on availability), including:
“Hatch Chile Season doesn’t automatically come to mind in mid-August for most Louisianans,” Robért Fresh Market General Manager Marc Robért III said. “But with the quality and freshness of the crop, we are proud to again be able to bring an American Southwest tradition a little further east.”
At Robért’s, we roast our Hatch Chiles the traditional way – over open flames in a custom roaster that looks like a giant raffle drum. As the machine spins, the skins blister and char, slightly cooking the flesh and infusing the peppers with a perfectly balanced smoky-sweet heat.
We’ve been roasting Hatch Chiles since 2014, and customers come back year after year for that signature flavor.
Once roasted, the tough outer skins are removed, and the chiles are ready for anything:
The possibilities are as bold as the flavor.
Whether you grab them fresh, roasted, or in a ready-to-eat dish, Hatch Chiles won’t be here for long. Stop by your neighborhood Robért Fresh Market and experience this seasonal favorite before it disappears.
The food is fresh. The fun is lagniappe.
